Overview
The semester in Denmark combines journalistic training with intensive studies. In the course of an intensive 1-semester programme you will do international reporting, EU reporting, you will learn about risk reporting and expand your view on world politics. Your work concludes with an individual multi-media production based on a research trip in or outside Denmark.
Course aims
As a result of this semester, you can achieve the following goals:
- Incorporate multimedia elements in your journalism education by combining text, audio, video and photos in an online international environment
- Master basic methods in news journalism with focus on environmental and climate issues, and knowledge of specific methods in global journalism and international News gathering
- Enhance awareness of how stereotypes, national stereotypes in particular, are used in the media. Where they come from, which role they play and how to minimize them.
- Attain working knowledge of the risk reporter’s tools of trade and working conditions in areas of crises and conflict and understand important aspects of the media’s role in modern conflict
- Increase your knowledge about EU institutions, decision making processes and how to work as a journalist inside and outside Bruxelles.
- Create networks by being part of an international group of students from all over the world

academic requirements
Students must have a minimum of one year training in journalism (advanced undergraduate program)
Language requirements
All courses are taught in English. Participants must have a good command of the English language, both written and oral.
Non-native English speakers should include a copy of their TOEFL test results (minimum score 550 or computer based 80)/ IELTS test of 6.5 or have the test results sent to our address)
Danish students must have at least level B or equivalent in English.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
If you are a citizen in an EU country, you need to be enrolled at a home institution/university in order to apply for the course.
TUITION FEE
You do not have to pay tuition fee if one of the following conditions applies:
- You are a citizen from an EU country
- You are studying at one of our partner institutions
You have to pay a tuition fee of Euro 4000 per semester if one of the following conditions applies:
- You are a citizen from a non-EU country
- You are not studying at one of our partner institutions

Deadlines:
- April 1 for fall semesters
- October 1 for spring semesters
Application process:
- Right after the application deadline we confirm reception of your application by email.
- About 2 weeks after the application deadline, you will receive either a rejection or a confirmation of participation by email.
If you need a more formal letter of admission besides the conformation email, please inform us.
- Shortly afterwards all students who need a residence permit will receive a visa application package . Remember to apply for your Danish residence permit when you receive the visa application package – it might take up to 2 months to get a Danish residence permit.
- 1 –2 months before semester start, you will receive an email with course relevant information/course programs and practical arrival information from our international department.
ADMISSION
We offer 16 places for international students, mainly from our partner institutions. About 8 Danish second year students participate in this semester programme.
Since all our international programs are exchange programs, we admit students from our exchange partners first, and if any places are still available, we also admit students from non-exchange partners.
