Research and analysis
We collect knowledge about development and new needs through analysis and research with emphasis on journalistic research as well as by gathering and processing the experiences that we have as professional media workers.
We survey the development in international education, journalism and the news media and communicate the results in books, reports, lectures and articles on websites and in various print media.
Cooperation and networks
In addition to cooperating with other providers of journalistic education, UPDATE also cooperates with media companies on further education, internal education and editorial product development.
We keep close contact with companies in the field of media and communication as well as with employees and organisations in order to achieve more through our networks than what is possible for us to achieve by ourselves.
UPDATE online
UPDATE’s work is organised around our website www.update.dk. The website is structured around databases that continuously communicate to the field of media and communications as well as the education sector.
Our online encyclopaedia, the base ‘Knowledge on Journalism’ (Viden om journalistik), is the most comprehensive source of knowledge in Danish journalism. The database is continually updated and extended.
The base ‘Courses and further education’ (Kurser og efteruddannelse) is a service for private persons and editorial environments. This base offers information on UPDATE’s range of courses, student counseling and how to finance your education.
‘Media law’ (Mediejura) is a unique base of knowledge that answers legal questions about journalism and media. Media law is managed in cooperation between UPDATE and the Danish School of Journalism.
The main language of the website is Danish, but we will be more than happy to answer any queries in English you may have about UPDATE and our activities.
Financing
UPDATE’s activities are financed through government grants and income from courses and degrees, consultancy fees and foundation funds.
